Hello Grasshopper

Ashley says hello to a 17×11 print of Yellow Grasshopper. That was hard to carry around, but it was worth it so they could meet. She’s funny and cute. The grasshopper is too, but he’s more the serious type.

She was smoking (see her left hand), and I rested the print on the ash can nearby. It was the only way to get them both in the shot looking at each other. Smoking is still as popular as ever.

I added brightness and vignetting, and corrected her skin tones. I set my camera to sunshine white balance, but it was a bit too bluish for this light.

Next time you see a grasshopper, say hello!

Buy an 8*10 copy, in a cherry wooden frame as pictured above, for $49.95 (USA only). Free shipping. I only have 1 in stock, so if you buy more than that, it will take me a week to get a new print back from the lab, before I can mail it to you. After adding, go to your shopping cart.

Yellow Grasshopper — a sharp bug on a white background

A yellow grasshopper from my yard, with my attempt at isolating him. I did alright, so I’m releasing this as a resource to the world. :surprised:

Buy a 4*6 copy for $0.95 (USA only). Glossy finish. After adding, go to your shopping cart.

To download, right-click the thumbnail and click “Save Link As” (Firefox) or “Save Target As” (Internet Explorer).

You can download the source image (JPEG, 573KB) or the edited version in loseless PNG format instead of the JPEG above (1.4MB, make sure to use the sRGB color space). Both images are released under the same license. For editing, I added contrast and removed the background using the eraser brush in Adobe Photoshop. The best way is to use the pen tool and layers, but I hate layers.
