I posted it with out meaning to but as I was saying I googled churches that gives out food and you came up. as I sat back and read everyone’s comments I was trying to figure out why exactly did your Site come up when I searched food.I need help not a photo gallery not saying that you’re pictures arent good because.they are beautiful but this shouldn’t come up when people are looking for help. When you have your child say mama when you going food shopping Im hungry and being a mother and saying im sorry baby I don’t have a job anymore I don’t know when we can go food shopping again really hurts. And as I was searching for churches that give out food and your website came up it angered me. I dont understand why youd have comment boxes for homelessness considering your not able to help people through these hard times. Do you sit back reading it and say thank God this isn’t my problem or what? Im really not trying to be mean but I don’t feel its right.
Im sure im not the only person who feels this way. It just seems that if you want to put a comment box for homelessness in daytona youd be able to help or have recommendations to someone or a place that does help. This is my first time ever trying to get help with food and assistance from the government its harder than you’d think and a constant struggle. Maybe you should put some links on here that will take people to pages that offer assistance because what I googled and what I found was the complete opposite.
Hello…my name is amanda I am a single mother with a 5 yr old daughter. I recently lost my job at Gators because I took home 10 wings and some mac n cheese. I have no family here whatsoever and my daughters father hasn’t seen her in years. I don’t receive child support nor goverment assitance. I applied for food stamps and they said up to 30 days before I recieve them. We would be dead from starvation by then. But I googled hurches that .
I know someone who is in desparate times and has 1 more day before back on the streets and will be sleeping the beach – this has happened in the past and I believe to be suicidal. He is 45 years old and is quite willing to work – has been rejected many times from jobs – he is good with carpentry, maintenance etc although he does nto have any certifications. The last job he almost had doing maintenance and landscaping let him go the first day as they said a bicycle was not reasonable transportation.
Please help –

I am not from florida, I came here for work. The guy that I was working for decided he wasn’t going to pay me after the job was completed, and there is nothing I can do to get him to pay. I didn’t have much money when I got here, and now I have less than that. Now I am flat broke, but do have transportation as of right now. I am single male mid 40′s and no family and friends to help. I don’t drink or do drugs. I am a highly skilled marine mechanic, electrician, and highly skilled in computer/network setup and repair. The problem is..one – over 40 and two – do not have the certification to back up my skills. I sold most of all my computer tools and parts just to live for a week and now I am probably going to end up selling my other tools just to eat as I am living in my truck at the moment. I am seriously contemplating doing something stupid just to get locked up for awhile. I’m sure prison can’t be as hard as living on the street in this economy. If anyone has an idea to help me out I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks, Scottie
i need help.i have a friend who’s homeless, can;t find a job, don;t have family only me.i dont know where to get help for him.some places that can help him charge a good amount of money which he does not have.please any information will be appreciated.
thanks
i’m in the same position. Stick by his side. It’s probably not his fault. Some people are targeted by a seriously tough group of people. Try to find him someone else he can rent with and get help with. Maybe three homeless people together on dss to rent a place. It’s awful. Just try and relax.

Hi,
I am not homeless yet and I don’t want to be but it is not healthy at my house and the longer I stay there, the more suicidal I feel. I am not being physically abused or anything like that, it’s hard to explain, but I know that I can’t stay there much longer. I have to get out and in times like these when there are so many other people that are in much more dire need than I, I also feel selfish for not being able to put up with what I have and just deal with it. I think it’s because I have dealt with it for so many years and now I have reached the breaking point. Anyway, I noticed that most of the posted help for the homeless does not specifically mention “shelter” and so many are geared towards entire families or those that are abused or have drug/alcohol related issues, none of these pertaiin to me. Am I destined to either stay put and end up over the edge or roam around the streets with no place to go. I don’t know what to do or where to go. I don’t have family that can help and I don’t want to impose where I know I am not wanted but just tolerated just because I am family. All of my family lives several states from here. Can anyone offer me any advice that will actually make me feel at ease please? I need some kind of hope. Right now I feel like I am in deep trouble and can’t find a way out. I don’t do drugs or alcohol. I’m not weird or anything. I’m an adult citizen, I am employable. I’m just a little lost right now.
Why don’t you try the Star Family Shelter? The number is 252-9400 They are located at 340 North Street in Daytona Beach. One last thing, Trust God with everything in your life. He has a plan for you if you just pray and ask him what it is and trust him. You may not get your answer right away but he is faithful. God Bless
I know a group who is much bigger and much more evil than GOD. I wish what you wrote was true.
My husband and I have just moved to Daytona from WV recently to be reunited with my mother and 2 children. We were staying with her until we were able to find apt/house us and the children preferably still close to her home. However she had some financial difficulty and lost everything from clothes to our home. Right now we have been bouncing from hotel to hotel for the past 2 wks. We need help!!! Not only is this expensive but rough for the kids. We haven’t the money for both rent and deposit. As it is we are scraping for food. I’ve now found places to get food yet being in hotels it’s hard to cook. She’s a retired disabled school teacher and my children are 14 and 11. If anyone has ANY suggestions or can help in ANY way please contact us. My email is lilbit8177@yahoo.com. We’d greatly appreciate anything.
Thank You and God Bless,
Angela Knight
PS My husband is also looking for employment. Restaurant work is his background mostly.
I am about to become homeless, and want to know where to get help or a place to stay until I get back on my feet.I do not have a alcohol or drug problem.I have just fell on some hard times, due to being unemployed, and no money.I am willing to work to help pay for my housing.I do have medical issues which are being taken care of.I am from the Ormond Beach,Fl area. Thanks for any help you could give me.
I am in the UK and here there are hostels for single homeless people. I don’t know if this is the case in the states but I would have thought a wealthy country such as your would provide accommodation for it’s citizens who are unemployed. Another way would be to maybe get a residential job, you do not mention what field of work you are in.
If you have references you could look after the elderly and live in or become a home help.In this day and age when so many have so much and so many have so little ,the balance needs to be redressed.
If you can afford it put an ad in the local paper and request work living in and explain that you are flexible and willing to work for your keep. Hope that helps a bit and Good luck !
also if you go to a religious institution ie catholic church they will often help with accommodation, albeit not longterm.

Moving to Daytona Beach on Jan 31st 2011 and needed some info on places to go to get help when I get there. I’m homeless, but not because of drugs or alcohol, just a seies of unfortunate events. I hope to find employment when I get there! This was very helpful. Thank you!!!!
Thanks Jack! Let me know if any of this information is out of date since I wrote it 3 years ago.
i have a son who is in 3t clothing if it is still available my email is tink1303@snet.net
Alright, if anyone reads this, please email Brittany. I don’t have any 3T clothes.
I have a ton of boy 3t-4t clothing and some mens and womens clothing I want to donate. I want to give it to people that need it. I dont like the Salvation Army because people have to buy stuff if they want it. Where can I donate the clothing for the needy?
Thank you
