Photo: Toad

A photogenic toad near our house… he did not hop away even after I took this picture. As you can see from the drops on the toad and blades of grass, it had just been raining.

Happy New Year everyone! 2011 is going to be a revolutionary year.

An airplane producing a contrail reflected on the shiny side of a compact disc… I’m so creative.

Pink flowers covered in drops of water… from rain or a medicine dropper?

Sharpened pencils taped to my fingers to form deadly claws which would probably just fall off if I actually used them…

Macro of a small cap reflecting the front of our house. This was a little smaller than the cap that covers the bolts on a toilet, and reflective instead of porcelain. I found it on the street somewhere in 2005 and kept it.

Photo: Helicopter Seeds

Helicopter seeds on the ground. Normally, these age further and then fall off the tree one at a time, spinning like helicopters due to the construction of their wings. This allows the tree to spread its seeds far and wide if a good wind comes through.

Green Japanese plums from our yard, January 2006. I edited this one over, adding contrast and sharpness.

Photo: Across the Ice

Ice on the roof of my step-mom’s car, Jan. 19, 2006. The temperature on the surface is colder than the air temperature, which is why your car can have ice on the windshield in the morning even if it’s 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

For lighting, I used a flashlight.

A macro of four sharpened pencils against a purple sunset. You’ve got all the essential colors here… red, purple, green, and blue.

Sharpened Pencils 1-3 are really embarrassing, so I won’t be posting them.

Photo of an autumn leaf with the sun as a light source. The coloring on this decaying leaf was unique. I guess it was being eaten by bacteria or something?
