The ocean at night in October 2005. Since I had a crappy camera at the time, this was very under-exposed. I brightened it a lot but there is tons of grains and hot pixels. The photo looks good at low resolution, though.

Mushrooms are actually closer to animals than plants, because they decompose organic matter for energy just like we do. The difference is they do it outside their bodies. The real action happens underground; the actual mushroom is just for decoration.

The prequel to Raindrops, but not as good. This is from October of 2005 (eight months earlier), same location. I couldn’t get closer to the drops because the camera I was using would not focus closer than four centimeters.

Return to Daytona Beach in August of 2005. I live 5 miles from the beach but rarely go there. The closer you live to the beach, the less you care about it.

More of the Ocean in Motion series.

The waves at Daytona Beach in January of 2005. There were a lot of birds there; you can see one at the bottom.
Today is my 19th birthday!

A swirl of clouds in a blue sky. This is from 2005. The only problems are the power lines and over-exposed clouds; otherwise I think it looks great.

Amour is watching you. Or she is being watched. Either way, she’s not afraid . . . my caption-writing abilities are going down fast.
This is outside of the photography school at Daytona State College. They have these cool blue-tinted windows… you can see my reflection vaguely in the window on the left.
I just told Amour to do something interesting and I got this. Good job girl.

Light-blue flowers by a rustic wooden fence. Composed using the rule of thirds!
I was having some problems with wind… the petals of the flower at the back would get blown up during a breeze which looked ugly. I pushed the petals down and snapped this quickly, while also considering composition and contrast. I had to be careful to keep the flowers from being over-exposed. Faster shutter speed or smaller aperture (higher F number) = less light.

Street signs near my house. Not far from Flag Lane and Par Avenue is Golf Avenue. The nearest golf course is a couple miles away, so these names are weird.
Nevertheless these signs are worthy of a picture. I used my umbrella to deflect my camera’s flash, as it would have been too bright otherwise.
Flag Ln. or Par Av. Which one will you choose?
