Sure, you can do that. A while back, I even reserved my names on all the social networking sites I could find.

That doesn't mean you should put too much time into those sites. At least 80% of your time should be directed at improving your own site. For me, that means answering comments and feedback, editing, posting, and writing about photos, and writing new articles as good ideas strike me.

Get your own site; it's not too hard! Before I was ready to start my site, I just set up a free site with Microsoft Office Live Basics, with links to my other sites (I was posting photos to deviantART at the time). It's free (you have to give them credit card info), and they pay for the domain. Features are non-existent, but it's good just to get started as you can start telling everyone your site is yourname.com, and then when you make that site your primary focus, everyone will still be going to the right place.

Interesting post!! :)

Thank you for writing it!!
I never really knew how much Google has, & never really stopped to think what is connected!! :)

Back up is good, yeah... /Double back-up is probably even better... As even flash drives can fail sometimes.. had a faulty one in the past../

Also, why not keep MySpace & YouTube accounts as pointers to your main site? some people seem to be doing so & are doing quite well...?

Been thinking of getting my own site for a while too... :)
