Sorry to here that you did not finish after all that work. I am retiring in June 2012 from a public school library. My specialty is creating (2)and revitalizing library's (3). Let me know when you might want to give it a go again maybe I can help. I am thinking of creating one in my area. The closest library is 30 minutes away and many of the areas around me are in poor economic states. :smile3:

I think I took it down because the database got corrupted... can't remember. Anyway, I'm not going through with the library. http://bookley.org is still up and the software I coded for the library is available... it gets a few downloads a month.

I worked in the local library for a few years. I don't like all the waste and bureaucracy in the Volusia County system, and they buy a lot of crap. One of their goals is to discard 10% of the collection each year. In acquisitions, they prioritize the latest Blockbuster DVDs over nonfiction books.

I'm sure other library systems are better but I'm no longer interested in pursuing an MLS degree (Masters in Library Science).

I found all this very interesting. You might look at libraries for a career. You would have a boss, but libraries are interested in creative, technically proficient people. You are good at solving problems. Nice job.
